Interview with Noah Edmonds: Abortion

In this episode of The Feminine Glory Podcast, Esther and Lydia interview their brother Noah on the topic of abortion. They discuss the duty that Christians have to speak truth on this topic as well as the duty to be involved in the public sphere in general. Noah gives a course of action for residents of their state in particular in order to give bill HB 441 the chance to be heard and voted upon.
TAKE ACTION!
I would like to draw your attention to a very dark and grand
evil that corrupts our nation. An evil that will, without fail, go down
in American history as an act of barbarism and horror. When I
name this evil, you will not be shocked. This abomination has
been going on for fifty years. The evil I am speaking of is –
abortion or as Christians should call it child sacrifice.
This practice is a too well-known fact in American culture. It
has become such a norm in our society that we are almost used
to it. However, why do I bring it up? We all know the debate; we
all know that abortion is a sin. Yet, I bring this up to you, the
Church, for two reasons.
First, is that I had the great gift of hearing Jeff Durbin speak
a few weeks ago. The talk was specifically about the battle to
abolish abortion here in Georgia. You might be familiar with the
hearing that the abolition bill for abortion, HB 441, got last year.
There was no vote on the bill, yet it did start the conversation to
abolish abortion here in Georgia. The details that Jeff gave were
actually quite encouraging. He explained that the debate could
continue when our state Representatives reconvene starting in
January. Moreover, it was explained that 25% of our state
Representatives are in support of HB 441. This is a huge blessing
that must not be taken for granted. The bottom line is that in the
state of Georgia we have a possibility to abolish abortion and
save the lives of thousands of babies. However, Jeff also
communicated that it is up to us to continue the debate as
Christians. All of this information leads to the second reason for
bringing all of this information to your attention.
Brothers and sisters, we are the Church of the Living God!
We serve the King of this world. This advent season we are
reminded of the greatest landing that trumps the legendary D-day
landing. The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. All of which ended
with the shedding blood of Christ on the cross.
With all this in mind remember that we are sons and
daughters of the King. We are the children of the King! He rules
this world! Therefore, He has given us His Church our marching
orders.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in Heaven and on earth
has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
Christ has commanded his disciples to go and disciple the nations
teaching them to observe ALL that He has commanded. Because
all authority has been given to Him. It is the Church’s
responsibility to teach the nations what His decrees are.
Moreover, He has told us what He thinks about child sacrifice.
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying. “Say to the people of Israel, Any one of
the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any
of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the
land shall stone him with stones. I myself will set my face against that man
and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of
his children to Molech, to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my
holy name." Leviticus 20:1-3
"They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured
out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they
sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.
Thus they became unclean by their acts and played the whore in their
deeds. Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he
abhorred his heritage." Psalm 106:37-40
America is stained with the blood of the innocent. We as
Americans have killed so many innocent babies. The death toll is
worse than Hitler’s Holocaust. It says in Genesis 4:10, “And the
Lord said, ‘What have you done? The voice of your brother’s
blood is crying to me from the ground.’” We as Americans have to
ask the same question, “What have we done?” The blood of sixty-
five million innocent babies is crying out. For we have sacrificed
our children on the alter of our own evil sinful pleasures. Sadly, all
of this evil is done in our own backyard.
We as Christians are the light of the world. Christ has given
us the message that the world is waiting for and the message that
the world is hungry for. Therefore, it is our responsibility to
communicate to the world what an evil abortion is this coming
new year. It says this in Psalm 24:10, “Rescue those who are
being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to
the slaughter.”
This also means that we need to communicate to our
Representatives what their God given responsibilities are. For our
civil leaders are a direct instrument of God and He has a direct
purpose for them that is found in Romans 13. For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger
who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Romans 13:5
We can clearly see that God established the governing rulers to
keep and establish justice. He also warns those same rulers that
pervert justice. Isaiah writes a clear warning to rulers who take
advantage of the fatherless.
"Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep
writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor
of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they
may make the fatherless their prey! What will you do on the day of
punishment, in the ruin that will come from afar? To whom will you flee for
help, and where will you leave your wealth? Nothing remains but to crouch
among the prisoners or fall among the slain. For all this his anger has not
turned away, and his hand is stretched out still." Isaiah 10:1-4
Isaiah makes it clear and says, “Woe to those who decree
iniquitous decrees.” Our civil rulers have for too long made
iniquitous decrees, and they have made the fatherless there pray.
This is one of many reasons why we are seeing God’s judgment
on our land. Because our leaders are not protecting these
innocent children.
This is why God’s people need to proclaim the truth in the
public square. If we believe that Christ Jesus is King and we do.
Then it is our responsibility to proclaim that to our rulers. If we
genuinely believe in what we pray every Sunday saying, “Our
Father in Heaven hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.” If we honestly
believe that His Kingdom is on earth, then we must act in such a
way that proclaims who is the real King of the world.
We as Christians have a theology that has hands and feet.
What an opportunity to flex this muscle with the fight against
abortion here in Georgia. Edmund Burke said, “The only thing
necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing –
Take Action.” Indeed, it is time for Christ Church to act. Not only
because it is right but because this is a matter of life and death.
